Native Instruments Pharlight: New vocal granular instrument

Fans of Native Instruments: rejoice! Pharlight is Native Instruments’ newest release. A sound designer’s dream come true, Pharlight is a heavily customizable granular vocal instrument. Pharlight creates a unique blend of synthetic and organic, spicing up any modern production.

Sound designers at Native Instruments worked with over 15 different vocal artists to help bring this “unconventional” synth to life. They also packed Pharlight with 375 incredible presets curated from 319 unique samples. All of their hard work allows you to jump right into making music. Despite this, you can still import and manipulate your own samples thanks to the onboard granular engine. So if you choose to use your own samples, these are the tools you can take advantage of to create the perfect patch in Pharlight.

You can shape your sounds with two different modules: the grain module and the sample module. The grain module has tempo-sync capabilities so you can evolve your sound to fit the moment. Meanwhile, the sample module allows you to surgically edit and fine-tune the sample of your choice. Combine this with the programmable X-Y pad, and you can create truly unique sounds. If you are familiar with Native Instruments’ other granular instrument, Straylight, you will feel right at home.

Since Pharlight is a Native Instruments synth, it is fully compatible with Komplete Kontrol. In addition, if you have a Native Instruments keyboard, you will be able to seamlessly integrate Pharlight into your live performances. In order to use Pharlight you must have Kontakt or Kontakt Player. Luckily, Kontakt Player is free so you don’t have to put down any extra cash if you’re looking to buy Pharlight.
